The SourceForge OCR Payable Agent for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is now generally available. The product automates vendor invoice processing end-to-end — from an email arriving in an AP mailbox to a posted purchase invoice in BC — with full OCR extraction, three-way matching against open purchase orders and goods receipts, and a configurable approval workflow.
Vendor invoices arrive via three channels — direct email to a dedicated AP mailbox, drag-and-drop upload from the BC web client, and integration with vendor portals via webhook. The OCR layer extracts header (vendor, invoice number, date, total, tax) and line-level fields (item code or description, quantity, unit price, line total, tax code) with field-level confidence scores. Confidence below configurable thresholds routes the invoice to a human-review queue rather than auto-posting.
Three-way matching runs against open purchase orders and posted goods receipts, with configurable tolerances for quantity (line and aggregate), unit price and total. Mismatches are flagged with the exact field deviation, and the AP clerk can resolve them inline by overriding, requesting a credit note from the vendor or re-routing the invoice through approval.
In pilot deployments at three mid-market customers — a textile manufacturer, a chemical distributor and a printing company — the product reduced average vendor invoice processing time by 80% (from a manual baseline of around 7 minutes per invoice to under 90 seconds), with auto-post rates exceeding 60% for matched invoices and human-review rates of around 35% on lower-confidence extractions.
